Proposal Manager
Location: Surrey
Salary £50,000 to £70,000 P/A (Dependant on experience)
With excellent Interpersonal skills and a high performance track record the successful individual will ideally have some experience on the Operations side but who has also done bids before and has good commercial understanding.
The Proposal Manager (International Government and Defence) is a permanent position based in Surrey and you will have to execute some bids throughout EAME. Some evening or weekend work may be required on tight bid deadlines as a key member of the Bids and Proposals Department and you will be responsible for supporting the Head of Bids and Proposals in ensuring that our client continues to deliver some of the industry’s highest quality bid documentation. The Proposal Manager forms part of the management team for all of our pursuits and is expected to work closely with Sales and Operations in ensuring we offer creative, client focused, and commercially astute proposals.
Responsibility
The Proposal Manager would lead smaller/medium sized proposal and pre-qualifications and support Operations Managers and Business Development Managers on major and super major pursuits.The long term aim is for you to run Major Pursuits in their own right.
The Proposal Manager is responsible for:
Leading proposal team start up activities
Proposal planning effort and co-ordination of proposal team efforts
Ensuring adherence to sales and marketing procedure
Ensuring implementation of sales and marketing toolset
Ensuring all proposals are responsive to Invitation to tender documents
Developing bid budgets with Business Development Managers
Producing, coordinating and developing win themes and strategies
Act as author for individuals sections of bids or (for smaller bids) the whole bid.
Conducting reviews of bids prior to submission
Supporting Business Development / Operations Managers in developing the commercial aspects of the bid
Assisting senior management on other sales and marketing activities
Experience
Skills typically acquired through completion of an undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in engineering, science or similar discipline and extensive combined experience (operations, engineering, construction or sales).Experience in the defence services, government outsourcing and civil infrastructure markets would be advantageous. Chartership or member of equivalent professional body would also be favourable.
