Minor New Works Project Manager Location: Aldershot, Hampshire Salary: £30,000p/a - £33,000p/a Role Purpose: Responsible for specifying, pricing, programming and implementation of Minor New Work up to the value of £250k per project. Technical Competencies Our clients’ are looking for a candidate who will exhibit the following essential technical competencies for the role: Relevant Trade/Professional Qualification (C&G or equivalent) in either Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering, ideally with 5 years' recent experience in the building/building services environment Good experience of budget preparation and control Ability to develop good working relationships with customer and suppliers Minimum of 2 years' direct supervision and line management experience of tradesmen (specialist or sub-contractor) Sound understanding of current Health & Safety legislation and ability to implement this into the planning and implementation phases of projects Able to demonstrate experience in carrying out generic and task-specific H&S risk assessments Mobile to travel between sites The following technical competencies are desirable for the successful Minor New Works Project/Service Manager: Good awareness and experience of high standards of workmanship, levels of finish and customer care Manage the conflicting demands of budgetary control and profitability Will have site safety skills and be able to be trained to site safety supervisor Good working knowledge of all Microsoft office applications including excel, word and project Holder of a full and valid driving licence. Behavioural Competencies A successful Minor New Works Project/Service Manager will understand and motivate employees, raise expectations of team performance while providing appropriate support and recognising improvements in performance. The ideal candidate will also be able to deploy employees and sub-contractors effectively, exercise necessary discipline, manage confrontations objectively and authoritatively, use unambiguous direct communication and encourage two-way discussion. He or she should be able to think ahead, manage short-term local needs within the context of the contract strategy, and be target orientated. The Minor New Works Project/Service Manager will have a methodical and conscientious approach to regulations and procedures and is expected to ensure the completion and maintenance of accurate records. Programme Management Manage the day-to-day M&E/B&CE minor new works projects in the designated area of responsibility to ensure legal and contractual compliance. Procurement Liaise with, audit and manage the procurement of works through supply chain contractors Ensure all necessary standards are implemented in the procurement of goods and services Networking Liaise with relevant parties to ensure service delivery to quality, safety, time and budget constraints Customer liaisons to ensure all programmes can be adhered to Quality Management Undertake quality audit of works in progress and completed Review and suggest improvements to operational and maintenance practices Support the Continuous Improvement programme. Compliance & Fraud Fraud awareness Responsible for ensuring compliance with the MoD policies on Health & Safety, Quality Assurance & Environment. Budget Management Ensure works are completed to specification, time and cost Ensure time and costs are captured appropriately to be managed through the Information Management System. Supply Chain Liaise with, audit and manage the supply chain, ensure that required materials are available on time Review of supply chain partners to meet service needs.
