Highways Project Manager Location: Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates Salary: Negotiable to the right candidate Job profile Our clients are involved in the 326 km Mafraq to Ghwaifat Border Post Highway Project, one of the largest and most exciting road construction projects in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. They are providing project and programme management consultancy to the Abu Dhabi Municipality for the construction of a 74km section of the highway at Ruwais, about 250Km from Abu Dhabi City. They are technical advisers to the Abu Dhabi Department of Transport (DOT) for the upgrading and operation of the Mafraq to Ghwaifat Highway as a Public Private Partnership (PPP) Project. They are actively seeking a Highways Project Manager to become part of the team providing technical advice to the DOT, and contributing to these exciting and developing opportunities. The Highways Project Manager will have worked extensively on highways and infrastructure projects at design, construction, operation and maintenance stages. He / She will have the full support of one of the most experienced transportation teams in the Middle East. This is a rare opportunity to join the team at a ‘start up stage’ and have the prospect of shaping the growth of a major workstream, with the obvious career opportunities that this will entail. Job description The successful applicant will be involved at senior level with managing and coordinating all PPP activities together with associated financial management activity, and have the opportunity to work alongside management and legal consultants that make up the full technical advisory team. The role will be challenging, varied and offer opportunities for skill set and career development. The role will involve but not limited to: Seeking innovation in the delivery of projects and techniques used to design and construct. Coordinating and providing highways advice relating to PPP issues, and in particular development of the PPP tender documentation. Delivering the project outcomes agreed. Providing professional and technical excellence in highway engineering. Reporting on performance against budget and programme. Allocating tasks to other members of the team and reporting on resource issues. Managing external resources used by the team. Preparing designs, reports, specifications and other deliverables. Candidate specification The candidate will be experienced in managing Highways and Highways Infrastructure projects likely to have been gained over a career of 15+years, and must have some experience of highway operation and maintenance projects. Appreciation of performance specifications and highway maintenance delivery are essential. The successful candidate will likely have the following background and skills: Preferably Chartered Engineer Status or equivalent. Experience in technical advisory role Detailed knowledge of Highway engineering and asset management techniques. Capability and experience of performance specifications within the highway operation and maintenance sector. Sound technical capability and familiarity with current industry standards, codes of practice and software applications Experience in the design, construction, operation and maintenance of highway schemes. Ability to develop relationships and engender trust at all levels of the organisation and with Clients. Presentation, team building and delegation skills.
