Description

Deputy Project Manager

Location: Surrey

Salary: £40k to £50k P/A Dependant on experience

Working within our clients’ Government & Defence (International) Division, providing general management support to the Project Manager and Project Team, assist in the delivery of an ongoing UK based project. (Note successful applicants could expect to be running their own project within a relatively short timeframe.)

Responsibilities

Provide general management support to the Project Manager and Project Team, covering some of or, all of the following areas:

Team management in a Matrix environment including resource management.

Management of issues across / between the following disciplines:

Technical / Engineering

Procurement

Logistics

Commercial

Project Controls (Cost, Programming and Risk Management)

Human Resources

Health & Safety

Quality

Financial Management, including cost management with potential P&L responsibility for multi-million pound projects.

Client Relationship Management.

Qualifications, Skills, Attributes and Experience

Essential

Proven track record as a successful team leader and manager.

Demonstrate an ability to problem solve and deliver against tight deadlines and demanding client requirements.

Personable character, able to easily develop and maintain relationships with Clients and Suppliers alike.

Although not necessarily from an engineering background or a qualified engineer the applicant must be able to demonstrate comfort dealing with technical / scientific / numeric issues and an ability to assimilate new ideas / concepts quickly.

Candidates must hold a British passport.

Preferable, (but not essential)

Financially literate - A basic understanding of standard financial terminology and accounting practices.

A working knowledge of project programming including use of either MS Project or Primavera.

Experience working with the UK Armed Forces, Ministry of Defence or other Government Departments / Agencies.

Experience of electrical engineering in connection with the pumping and storage of fluids, in particular fuel.
